Firstly your staircase(s) will include expensive materials such as Stainless Steel, Natural Stone, Glass or Hardwood and as our suppliers of these materials suffer from ever increasing rising costs they will not allow us to have either high credit limits or extended credit.
As the manufacture of your staircase is completed entirely at our works prior to installation, we have to purchase all these expensive materials at the beginning of the construction process which could take two or more months to complete. Therefore without additional payments we have to fund all the materials plus two months labour and overheads out of the initial payment.
The staircase is usually required on site in three stages. First the carcass fitted with temporary treads is required to assist in the construction of the property, then sometime later the balustrade and treads are required and finally the hardwood handrail is fitted. Considering these three elements of the stairs were all made at the same time perhaps several months ago, without additional payments we would be both financier and manufacturer, this does not even take into consideration the time then taken for the client or contractor to issue a payment after completion.
Occasionally client or contractor that upon completion produces previously unmentioned and unwarranted deductions or decides not to pay promptly or even at all for whatever reason. This withheld payment could easily exceed our profit, therefore meaning that in real terms we have been working for nothing to that point.
Our terms are therefore without exception, 30% with the order, and 30% upon request during manufacture, a further 30% prior to installation and 10% upon completion. In return you will be welcome at any time during the manufacturing process to view your product at our works and check both the workmanship and accuracy. On completion of the manufacture we shall be pleased to safely store the components until required on site or alternatively deliver the components to site so that you may store them yourself.
