Helical Staircases

Helical staircases are a modern variation on spiral staircases made possible by advancements in modern engineering. They have an interesting shape like a corkscrew, forming two stages which turn back on themselves. While very similar to a spiral staircase, the helical type has some important differences. With a tight spiral, it wraps around a central core, usually a pole, and the steps are very tight.
In the case of a helical staircase, it is more of a round staircase, usually very uniform in shape, which makes construction easier, and it has a railing on both the inner and outer edge which makes them suitable even for children and the elderly. Another plus to a helical staircase is people can make use of the entire tread (step), as they are typically uniform in width. They are usually supported entirely by the central pole. Helical staircases can be quite beautiful, even without any decorations, and so can add to the beauty of your home and its value.
More unusual than many other types, helical staircases are a real talking point in any modern home. They, like many other types of staircase can be built in a variety of materials like wood and stainless steel. They take up more space than spiral staircases but if you pick a helical staircase for your home or business you can be sure of making a design statement in the building. This will truly be something worth talking about, not simply a way of getting from one floor to another.
