Floating Stairs
The name ‘floating’ stairs can be misleading, as the stairs do not really float. Instead, these are stairs with extremely minimal components to them. At their most basic, you will have nothing more than treads – literally. With a typically floating staircase, you attach the treads to a wall; this can be done by driving the treads into it, or using a bracket to give support. You don’t have to clutter up your room with unsightly frameworks and that is great if your room is short on space or light.
Floating stairs have the virtue of simplicity, and they can be very decorative for a home or business. However, while simple looking, they are actually rather complex to install and maintain, unless you are like us and know exactly what you’re doing! Given the fact that floating staircases have nothing but a series of treads (steps), they have to carry all of the weight. So, not only do the treads have to be strong, but their attachment to the wall has to be equally strong.
For us, that is just a fact of life. If you want floating stairs, we can install them safely for you and make them look truly beautiful. With these stairs, when properly installed, you have all of the space under them available for use, which is a real plus. They are stunning design features that will certainly get people talking. They give a light and airy feel to any room, large or small and they can accommodate a range of sizes and heights of flights of stairs.
